We have been learning how to subtract ➖ We played Subtraction Smash, rolling the dice to take away numbers from 10 and then writing the number sentence. A fun and active way to build our maths skills! 🎲✏️

We have been learning about Scotland and discovered lots of interesting facts about the Kelpies 🐎 The children then used their creativity to make their own Kelpies using playdough, fantastic learning 🎨✨

This week we made sustainable reindeer dust ✨🦌 We had lots of fun making it and can’t wait to sprinkle it outside our houses on Christmas Eve to help guide Santa’s reindeer🎄💫

Today we made ginger salt dough decorations🎄✨ We followed the recipe carefully and made sure all our measurements were just right. We can’t wait to paint them and hang them on our Christmas tree🎨🌟

We had an amazing time on our Christmas adventure at Callendar House! 🎄✨ We helped Trixie and Cupid save Rudolph from Jack Frost, and the fun continued as the children got to decorate a Christmas tree! 🎁🌟

Tomorrow P1G are off on our Christmas Adventure! 🎄✨ We’ll be leaving school around 9:15am, so please arrive for 9:00am. Children don’t need to bring anything, just make sure they’re wrapped up warm🧣🧤

🏙️✨ We’ve been exploring landmarks this week! The children created beautiful silhouette art by placing an outline of their favourite landmark, sponge-painting dots all around it, and then peeling it back for the big reveal. They look amazing🎨🖼️💛

📚✨ We’ve been consolidating our s, a, t, p, i, n sounds this week! Today we played Tap, Tap, Read - sounding out and spelling words hidden in the cup. The children loved this game and showed amazing blending skills 🔤💡🤩

We learned about children’s rights and explored what international aid means. We discussed how organisations work together to lend a helping had. We drew pictures showing things they could give or do to help people in less economically developed countries and communities in need of support💛🌍

Today we created beautiful Bonfire pictures using salt art! We sprinkled salt onto our designs and added watercolour paints to bring them to life, the colours spread through the salt and looked just like fireworks in the night sky🎆🎇

This week some of the children have been fascinated with caring for babies 👶🏼 They carried out check-ups to listen to heartbeats ❤️, gave “immunisations” 🩺, and checked weights to make sure the babies were growing strong 🧑‍⚕️✨

We’ve been exploring rhyming words 🎶🐭 With The Gruffalo book as our guide, we spotted rhyming pairs and matched them up🦉🦊🐍

We’ve been exploring 2D shapes 🔴🔷 We used lots of different shapes to create pictures and they looked wonderful 🤩

Last week, the Helicopter Fairy visited our class and left us Helicopter Story jotters as a present 🚁🧚 We wrote our own stories and then acted them out, it was so exciting, and we came up with lots of creative and interesting ideas 📚

Today in numeracy, we had fun adding 10s together! We threw a ball at the dartboard to hit two numbers, then wrote a number sentence to match. Using our super counting-in-10s skills, we figured out the answers🎯➕🔟

We had a wonderful day at the science centre for our end-of-school trip. We enjoyed exploring all the different exhibits, and we also got to watch Animal Kingdom in the IMAX theatre🧫🔭🔬🧬

This week we have been learning to round to the nearest 10, and we had to round the number up or down and put it in the correct cup🔟

“I wonder what the white lines in the sky are after a plane has flown past”🤔💭 After spotting a plane in the sky during playtime, we became curious about the lines it left behind. We were amazed to find out they’re called contrails — and we wanted to create our own! ✈️☁️

This week in PE we enjoyed taking part in different fitness exercises, we spoke about how our heart beats faster when we exercise🫀🏃🏼‍♀️

⚽️ BEANIE CUP ⚽️ We are looking for donations for the Beanie Cup. Anything from Shampoo to Champagne welcome.

This afternoon, we learned how to plant sunflowers🪴 We talked about how to care for them and help them grow. We can’t wait to see how tall they’ll get🌻

We’ve developed a keen interest in airplanes! We recycled plastic bottles to create the bodies of our planes and used cardboard for the wings. Now, we’re paper-mâchéing them to make them stronger, so we can paint and decorate our creations✈️

This week, we had fun exploring how to tell the time! We created our own clocks outside and used our arms to represent the different o’clock hours⏰🕙

This week, we were learning how to play badminton. We have been practising our serves, and we had so much fun🏸☀️

For Science Week, we made our own slime🧑‍🔬 Before we started, we talked about how to stay safe, like washing our hands and being careful with the ingredients🧪We used glue and contact lens solution to make the slime. The contact lens solution helped turn the glue into stretchy, squishy slime🧫🧬 #BPSSTEM
