And then, of course, there's the Barbados Bullfinch, certainly not a looker, but the islands only endemic bird, though even that is dependent on which birding list you worship!

Three of the commonest birds in Barbados. Zenaida Dove is quite a stunner IMO and ground doves are cute. As for Collared Doves, there's lots of really pale ones like this, probably an effect of the sun, me thinks?

Lesser and Greater Yellowlegs. Straightforward when together but more care needed when difficulty with size context. My memory for calling fly-bys still seems to hold firm though, Lesser calls can be quite Greenshank like, but Greater sounds more like Greenshank than Greenshank!

A South Northumberland tour today with @geofficeton.bsky.social . The White-billed Diver didn't disappoint. Supporting cast included female RN Duck & Bittern out on the ice. Female Smew, ringtail Hen Harrier and Kingfisher at nearby Widdrington Lake

A few highlights from the sea watching at Kuta, the flying fish were amazing

Rather nice of this Red- necked Phalarope to briefly join us on the seawatch at Kuta today, one wave and it was off!

Javan Banded-Pita was another target bird here in Bali. Gone are the days when you had to spend days on end hidden away in the forest in the hope of getting get a glimpse of a pita, modern technology has put an end to that. High praise to the person who invented mealworms!

Last time I visited Bali, I booked it via teletext and you ran the risk of being shot if you tried to see the remaining few pairs of Bali Starling. How things change!
