Well I reached 1000 hours in Counter Strike GO/2. For pleasant late night sessions, custom maps and gamemodes, clutch plays, (relatively) sick flickshots, here's to a few thousands more?

silent hill fans who've only ever watched video essays on 2 are gonna be in shambles when silent hill f has cult stuff in it but doesn't have a character being plagued by guilt and silent hill being the means through which their soul achieves catholic salvation

I think the hate for "runbacks" in games or that the term exists at all is due to too much emphasis on bosses, either from the game side or the player's expectations side

16 For he never thought of doing a kindness, but hounded to death the poor and the needy and the brokenhearted. 17 He loved to pronounce a curse— may it come back on him. He found no pleasure in blessing— may it be far from him.

The insulation is wearing thin. The sense of impunity has cracked. The sudden, jarring realization that constantly calling for violence like you're on 4chan might have some consequences when scaled up in a country where half the people can kill you from 200 yards away is sinking in.

Charlie Kirk talking about mass shootings at the time he was shot is the sort of detail they make you take out of the story because it's too over the top

Seriously. If it was scripted in a show, the editors would jump all over it as way too on the nose. Irony is supposed to be subtle. Reality, it seems, is not.

Shit's bad right now. I'm disabled, dealing with the aftermath of some severe trauma I cannot discuss openly, and just... really need a break. The simplest way to improve my life would be to send me $5,000 so I can pay off some big bills. But my birthday's on the 23rd, so here's my wishlist too:

Also a lot of the time when they say it was made by like 12 people they are not including all the outsourced labor from other countries, which for 3D games can be significant

Every time you see an inaccurate post mentioning how Silksong, Clair Obscur, etc was made by like 12 people in their basement with no internet remember that some C-Suite exec is going to point at that when signing new games, cutting studios and teams, and dismantling foundational pillars

It is pretty funny whenever I see "history of gaming" type videos on YT they're all console-centric and aren't anything like my experience of random PC games my dad might pick up at a grocery store.

My early video game experience was a cd called something like 100 free games for windows or something that had a lot of freeware games and a few shareware games. Plus the Sega Smash pack 1&2 + Sonic R port.

Those elitist fucks like to pretend that discount game bins don't exist, and then act like people like my family never had consoles and games because we were 'poor people' when he did had them, then mock us because we played all the old games when new games were cool.

I've worked in this fuckin industry for over a decade and my exposure to Nintendo as a child was exclusively watching my friend play at her house. Aside from consoles being expensive, I don't think people consider what it was like before gaming was mainstream.

i didn't play much nintendo as a kid other than like, a few games as samus in smash for gamecube one time? it's not like playing nintendo is a requirement for understanding or making good games. you'll even see guys like Itsuno talking about how Nintendo making games for everyone isn't interesting

An interesting thing I'm noticing with Silksong is that people seem to just assume this game will be hard for the sake of it, like I see so many people bashing their heads against that first big guy instead of like... leaving, and coming back when you have the dash.

Which will be forever funny to me because, aside from Malenia, Elden Ring is From's easiest game since Dark Souls blew up; people just bullied eachother into not engaging with the mechanics because that's not how it's "meant to be played" (Miyazaki himself said he uses summons).

There's also been a post going around about how people need to examine whether they're playing games for intrinsic reasons, or just because it has become habitual, encouraged by dailies, loot boxes and FOMO. It points out that if you're playing for the wrong reasons, it can exacerbate depression.
