First international flight in years - train to airport. You can see when I was on the plane. I wish more people knew (there were perhaps 10 others wearing masks). So many people coughing.

And I'm still trying to follow whether those putting forth this argument believe this means N95s should be recommended (Of course they should - OMFG. Lack of availability, comfort, etc are bulls**t reasons. The science is the science. The rest is politics. Yes, FFS, we should fly planefuls to DRC)

We are at the: "I concede this disease causes humans to generate infectious aerosols, which infect other people who breathe them IN, but no infectious aerosols are breathed OUT by an infected patient" stage of the "I effed up SARS2 being airborne but still need to cover my a**" stage of the debate

I have heard stories where the NHS actively forbade staff from wearing suitable respirators. So yes, fear of standing out is one issue. But also employers making it impossible to protect yourself is another huge one.

So wishing you’d work in NZ, the anaesthesiologist was the only one super dismissive of my precautions (nearly to the point of aggression, definitely past disdain). The environment just about met those conditions but only due to my requests, it wasn’t standard :(

Nice. We use a small XOne double taped to the top of our Westinghouse portable purifier & park it in front of us at appts. Many❓from medicos lately on our advocacy set up. Some genuine questions, some belittling. Those don’t stop us. Their loss & so far, so good.

I wouldn’t go to a Doctor for advice on airborne transmission, I would speak to an aerosol scientist. On Hantavirus Public Health officials should be taking the lead from the International Hantavirus Society, the actual people who deal with the research all the time on this virus.
