On this day in 1859, ground was broken on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. The first stones were laid on April 16, 1860. Construction was paused in the early-1860s due to a public inquiry over the cost overruns on the project. Construction finished in 1876.

On Dec. 20, 1969, the Grey Cup was stolen from the Lansdowne Park Clubhouse only a month after the Ottawa Rough Riders won it. It was held for ransom for months until the robbers left it in a locker at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. This is the story. 🧵 1/10

Watching an amazing documentary film called “Cat Daddies”. What beautifully heart warming show. I’ve cried and laughed and just felt such affinity to the stories. A wonderful way to spend a very windy, snow-stormy afternoon.
