Though one upshot is that when reading up & checking if my ailments are synonymous with laryngitis, and seeing how the condition typically affects feminine folk more often, who work in careers as singers, teachers, call centre folk... Weirdly kinda affirming? Not pleasant by any means, but y'know.

And when one sweet little cherub asks me if I'm okay before I start their session, by God that nearly broke me too. I love my voice, I use it to have fun, I need my voice for my job. Nearly losing it during this illness has done a number on me, honestly.

Returned for work, still feeling the effects of the sore throat. Four teaching sessions back-to-back. Never have I felt that worried over losing control of the class & not being able to bring it back without hurting my voice even more that I nearly break down during the morning break.

Finally feel like I'm on the mend. Discomfort in the throat is starting to get gone, I can put just a bit more power into my voice, and I have found throat painkillers and medicated drops to tie me over in the meanwhile. But gosh, my throat hasn't had it this bad in a while. Never again please. 🙏

Getting a smidge better with every moment that passes. I can feel a bit of my voice returning, yet I still have that annoying dysphagia-like pain when I swallow through the throat. This felt very laryngitis-like, and hopefully it's not around for much longer. Fingers crossed.

PSA: Bluesky's new auto-tagging moderation stuff is a disaster. Disable it. Go into Settings on the Bluesky site and enable adult content and set everything to Warn at most, which makes posts opt-in. Hide just vanishes posts. Then go into Advanced/Bluesky Mod Service and do the same on everything.
