But they weren’t into any of the 2D final fantasies bc they got into the series thru KH. They didn’t play about Crisis Core, Advent Children, or KH2. What are they into now

I've been playing the PC version of KH2 with the Re:Fined mod. It has a number of fixes and quality of life improvements. Roxas no longer has Ventus's voice lines and instead has his own back from the PS2 version. You can switch between the OG ost and the remastered one, and many other improvements

I'll take this as an excuse to reiterate. If you have an older machine that struggles on modern Windows, install a Linux distro like Steam OS or Cachy My GPU is ancient atp, but the only real bottle neck some games actually have now is VRAM Your rig is likely more capable than you know

digital games have already standardized the idea of never going down in price, only having discounts, so removing the physical element means now they can also start standardizing having even more control over the price of their games (ie make them never "lose value")

i think another lesson to be taken from this playstation news is that it's seemingly impossible to run a video game publisher in america because all its economy does is incentivize growth above all else, which is how nintendo has apparently survived both video game crashes thus far

Another thought on this - storage space (ie - SSDs) have increased so sharply in price that storing digital games is becoming increasingly difficult and expensive. Discs are DIRT CHEAP to produce - so even if you have to install them, you have a physical, cheap solution right there.

Remember when Sony did that DRM check shit a few months ago? With the death oh physical games that means that truly offline console gaming will be gone forever. They will always have to do a “check” to verify your “ownership”

LRG is definitely a contributing factor here because tonnes of major publishers turned to them to make physical games despite the fact that LRG can't actually like, make a product with any degree of competence so it just became a bad call to buy a lot of those editions

I think the idea of 'console convenience' has been absolutely abused and exploited by these companies, where now if you stick with that mindset they will just sucker you into just playing along with their ecosystems/policies. It now feels like console jail more or less now.

I would rather invest in a $2K PC that will let me play anything modern with free online plus let me emulate a backlog of the last 45 years of gaming versus buying a 1k PlayStation where I won’t have any control of owning my games and have to pay to play with my friends.
