I don't need to be "protected" from seeing porn, I need porn artists to be protected from being debanked, having their work stolen by AI, being abused for the content of their work, and going broke.

I've worked at the 'big' studios. While I'm on the writing and showrunning side, none of my projects have used AI in their process. I feel confident about my designers, directors, and story artists doing the same. These folks are convincing themselves 'everyone is doing it'.

if anything some overly bootlicking "fans" are the problem too, because they'll @ Nintendo themselves on a fan project HOPING that it gets the game DMCAed (it usually doesn't). Also anything Pokemon related is due to the Pokemon company (different studio) who IS actually really bad about fan stuff.

Look, you don't have to give people ass-pats for doing the right thing and saying they're sorry, but when people learn their lesson and try to change, you should lay off them and give them room to improve.

That really ought to be where the story ends, but people (especially on Twitter) don't want that to be the case. To them, an apology isn't an apology; it's an admittance of guilt, of PERMANENT wrongdoing. It's an excuse to villainize someone showing remorse for their own pleasure.

One of the things that bothers me about the TADC situation is the lesson this kinda stuff teaches. The lesson I was always taught as a kid was, "if you do something wrong, you should say you're sorry and then try to do better." I think that's a pretty reasonable approach.
