Sure, England were humiliated by the First Test loss...but that's not enough is it? We want them to suffer, as well. 😄

Trust England to let a wobbly aussie team get the job done. Seriously Australia needs to be bringing through the next generation because Khawaja is surely out with his back for Brisbane. Let me not downplay the excellence of Starc, but we can't expect that every time

I am still baffled as to why they made the debutant face the opening strike in the first innings. No matter how much the Khawaja stuff put them on the spot that was not a smart move.

Considering that the Bond movies are actually pretty clear that he's the same guy it's annoying how much people think the only flaw with the Bond as code name theory is that it's never been confirmed. Roger Moore visited Lazenby Bond's wife's grave! They're all the same guy.

"Tzefardea Tzedek" (Frog of Righteousness) As soon as the Portland Frog became a meme, Jewish social media blew up with jokes about the 2nd Passover plague - tzefarde'a (frogs) - and the Rabbinical commentary around it. I knew I had to make a calligraphy piece encompassing all of it. (more in alt.)

Lot of people are going to take Ls on Platner because admitting not just that they were wrong about a guy they didn't know is hard, but acknowledging the party was right not to back him even if you don't like who they did back will be impossible.

one thing I’m pondering, and I don’t know if I can describe it very well, is what feels like a very Chicago Catholic energy around separating CHURCH conservatism from POLITICAL conservativism, which the trads and the sedevacantists across the asshole spectrum from JD Vance to Cardinal Dolan conflate

The Trump administration’s tariff regime and the elimination of fee exemptions for items under $800 is limiting resource sharing between university libraries, trapping some books in foreign countries, and reversing long-held standards in academic cooperation. 🔗

Libraries have shared their collections internationally for decades. Trump’s tariffs are throwing that system into chaos and can ‘hinder academic progress.’

I find it actually quite grim that ww1 was such an improvement in quality of life that actually people liked it. As far as seeing another country goes a lot of ANZACs loved being in Cairo for training and later France when fighting (they didn't exactly see a lot of Turkiye).
