We've already got a digital ID that shows you can work legally, your NI number. Companies all submit PAYE online now, so there is no need for this scheme. It's a dangerous consolidation of personal data, a waste of money and it won't stop people who already break the law from continuing to do so.

They may not be planning to do that, but it doesn't mean it won't happen. Especially if Farage takes power.
