I've said this before, but Leah is one of my professional heroes. She is a national treasure. It's been such an insane privilege to work with her & learn from her & play even a miniscule role in her work. This is a huge loss for OPB and for Oregonians. I do not understand it at all.

One issue in our first contract negotiation is compensation. OPB hasn't given us a proposal that addresses our concerns. Many of us struggle to make ends meet. Our current pay doesn't help alleviate the challenges we face. In the coming weeks, we’ll share more about the struggle our creators face.

For those curious, the statue of a pioneer family dubbed "The Promised Land" formerly of Portland's Chapman Square has left town. The statue was taken down after being vandalized in 2020. According to the city, it was returned to the artist who made it in Enterprise, OR earlier this month.
