This entire opinion piece by Chip le Grand does not mention ISIS a single time. Not once. Instead it repeatedly suggests that the cause of the Bondi attack was Labor's failure to crack down harder on Gaza protests and related antisemitism.

We should be deeply alarmed that the Premier is talking about permanently arming the “Community Security Group”, a Mossad-linked Zionist organisation that runs paramilitary training camps in Israel.

In local-history FB groups I’m already noticing how AI is destroying people’s trust in archives There was a post on the 1985 stunt where real turf was laid over Swanston St People were like “looks fake” “AI” Luckily others posted, “I was there, I saw it” But if an event is out of living memory…?

In 1985, Melbourne's planners closed its main thoroughfare to cars, covered it in grass and threw a party in a bid to help citizens re-imagine their city.

Found a load of old divs fawning over an AI clip claiming to show Margate in the early 1900s, endless comments about ‘times was great then’ and ‘what has are country become’ and couldn’t resist trying to get them to log off. Won’t work. We’re doomed.

Atrocious. There should be consequences for these constant attempts at capture. If you don’t like that a man said people made him feel uneasy there then talk to your people about how they’re expected to treat people, don’t tell the paper to pull the piece where he talks about it.

The most fun thing to do the day before Xmas eve is give a dentist your savings and have them perform a stressful torture on you for a few hours. Ugh, We really need dental in to Medicare, though anything like housing they’ll just put the fees up and it would still cost you the earth anyway

One of the reasons why I go so hard on science misinformation/disinformation, is that as a working scientist it is frustrating to see your research misreported to push an agenda. For example, consider this piece of right-wing propaganda from The Telegraph that was just published

I have had three hip surgeries. I have also had knee, shoulder, and jaw surgeries. You would not guess any of that from looking at me. I can walk, but a lot of times I definitely CANNOT walk through a large, busy airport while dragging bags. MOST wheelchair users are ambulatory to some degree.

Everyone knows about Ahmed al-Ahmad, the Syrian Muslim migrant who took down one gunman. Another man, a Middle Eastern refugee, ran into a firefight and kicked the gun away from the other gunman. Police shot him, and bystanders kicked him in the head while he was down, thinking he was the terrorist.

interesting choice to project "LET THEM BE KIDS" onto the Sydney Harbour Bridge as part of the celebrations of the teen social media ban It's not a line that came from Albanese or the government — it's the name of News Corp's campaign for the ban.

Landmark British photographer Martin Parr dies aged 73
Parr said his brightly coloured, closely observed pictures of British life were ‘disguised as entertainment’ but they became hugely popular Martin Parr, the British documentary photographer who captured the peculiarities of the nation with clarity and hilarity, has died aged 73. He had been diagnosed with cancer in May 2021. Known for his acute observations of the English class system, Parr’s images covered sunbathers and Conservative clubs, village fetes and coffee mornings, often in vivid colour and with more than a dash of humour. His iconic 1986 photobook The Last Resort: Photographs of New Brighton captured working-class holidaymakers in the Wirral, Liverpool and helped mark a sea change in British documentary photography, from the gritty, black and white style of the past towards a cheekier and more colourful style. The fact that four hostile drones tried to hit Zelenskyy’s plane & it’s barely a blip in the news cycle should terrify everyone. We’ve been dragged so deep into the chaos era that an attempted strike on a world leader doesn’t even break through. When this becomes normal, the world is in real danger.
