Today we celebrate 12 years since the @libdems.org.uk passed the Same Sex Marriage Act, with some lovely photos of our married and engaged Plus members. Including our Chair, Charley, who’s getting married in October, and our Honorary Vice President, Adrian, who celebrates their 10th anniversary.

On International Non-Binary People’s Day, Liberal Democrats are proud to stand with and celebrate non-binary people in the UK and all around the world. We will keep fighting until we can finally build a society where everyone is free to be who they are.

Thank you to Rebecca for writing this. There's a (deliberate) disconnect between how trans+ folks and their close allies, and how cis people more widely, are experiencing this. We in the LGBT+ Lib Dems are working on how we can close that gap and bring the reality home to the wider community.

On International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, I want to say to the LGBT+ community: I hear you, I get it, I stand with you, and the Liberal Democrats will never stop fighting to build a country and a world where you are truly free to be who you are.

17th May is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia. The date commemorates the World Health Organisation’s decision in 1990 to remove homosexuality from its classification of diseases. We exist. We don’t need a cure. #IDAHOBIT

The UKSC ruling was an opportunity for the government and the EHRC to step up and commit to affirm the rights of all. They've failed on every measure, choosing to peddle hate and discrimination instead. We've heard enough: Kishwer Falkner and Bridget Phillipson must resign. 1/2

Across the globe, liberals are leading the fight against Trump, Putin and the sweep of dangerous populism. Vote Liberal Democrat on Thursday and elect a local champion who will stand up for your community against Farage's hate-filled politics.

Organisations and individuals should take their own legal advice but guidance that is not consistent with the ECHR as interpreted in the Goodwin case, seems to me a good reason for not following this guidance, given the horrific effect on trans lives.

This update would appear to be incompatible with trans people’s rights under the ECHR, given the attempt to force trans people into spaces inappropriate for them. That appears to me to be a potential breach of Articles 3, 8 and 14 of the Convention. www.equalityhumanrights.com/media-centre...

Christine is spot on here. Our trans and non binary constituents have been left in limbo by the Supreme Court judgement unsure of their rights and protections or what this means for their acceptance in society going forward. That requires urgent attention.

I am increasingly disappointed that the concerns of the #LGBTQ+ community over what the Supreme Court judgement means for them are not yet being addressed. I have written to the Government asking them to make clear how trans and non binary rights will be protected.

The Supreme Court decision will be causing concerns for many in the LGBTQ+ community. I support the call from Christine Jardine MP for the government to clarify how the rights of our trans and non binary friends will be protected.

We are studying today's judgement by the UK Supreme Court. Nothing they rule will change our solidarity with the trans+ community and with everyone who seeks to live their lives under control of their own bodies, and free from poverty, ignorance or conformity.

Statement from us on today's ruling: "As LGBT+ Liberal Democrats... we don't think Britain is the sort of country where people should have to show their 'papers, please' in order to use the loo. ...we do not support efforts to legislate in ignorance to enforce conformity." 🔶🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🧡
