This is going to be a problem for trans men too. A man with low haemoglobin could be accepted for donation if tested at the lower female threshold. Health risk!

Just been turned away from donating blood and deferred for year because of iron count being too low. It turns out I have been allocated screening code '4', which on a controlled document they wouldn't let me take a photo of, is born male with a female gender identity. 1/7
