There is not a boss committee or leader in the party. Closest you get to that is when the President is a member of the democratic party. Most of not all committees haves rules against getting involved on contested primaries. In fact it's in their interest to not primary folks or thumb the scale /2

For folks, The DNC is the end of a long chain of organizations. All of whose primary purpose is to find, fund, and elect democratic candidates to government positions. While they have some ancillary aspects it's organizing committees all the way down
