Coming after years of anthology contributions and mini-comics, Walker Tate's long-form debut LASER EYE SURGERY was one of my most highly-anticipated books of the year, and I'm sad to say it did not live up to expectations. My latest review, for TCJ:

Basically you have the world's richest most powerful people saying "we've invented technology that will eliminate all writers and artists & we're very excited about it." Then you have the press say how excited THEY are about it. Then you have artists/writers saying there's nothing we can do about it

This piece is informative insofar as it quotes Felker-Martin's own words, but its tone and its dismissal of things like comics-gate as merely "controversial" are disquieting. Also, the ways in which the quotes are attributed is needlessly confusing.
