Why should we limit ourselves? Because we when we speak as experts, we ask others to trust us because we know more than they do about the topic at hand. I'm sorry, but the vast majority of philosopher do not know more about Gaza than other academics. Most of us aren't experts.

I understand why people want the APA to do this, as academics we have extremely little ability to do anything and so we want to do *something*. But I think this is a bad idea. When speaking *as* *experts* (which is what our professional organizations do), we need to limit ourselves to our expertise
