Back in the early days of MySpace and Facebook, I'd write statuses about every thought that popped into my head. Nowadays, I still have plenty of commentary, but I never seem to make posts. Perhaps it's that arguing with people online got old. Or maybe I just save it all for my books.

The dumbest thing I realized I had wrong my whole life is which window at fast food drive-thrus is which. Whenever they said "pull up to the second window" I thought that meant the window before the main one, because the food window was considered the first one. Turns out it's the opposite.

I love editing poetry because it lets you fall in love with each poem as much as the author. Hearing their detailed, nuanced reasoning for each minute decision is fascinating and always inspiring. Writing a poem is like constructing a man-made iceberg you get to climb into and make your home.

I accomplished one of my long-term rock climbing goals: lead climbing to the top of this 60-foot wall for the first time. Specifically the front-facing part of the wall. It's entirely overhung so I'm leaning slightly upside down the whole time

It's rare I buy poetry books. I know that's odd, but after writing and editing poems all day I relax with a scifi novel. Goal is to read 1 poem a day and study it. So far I'm already emotionally wrecked by a Jack Gilbert poem. I also love that my MFA mentor, Naomi Shihab Nye, is in here too.

Humid summer nights like this remind me of finding empty parking lots with my poetry friends and spitting slam poems until 3 AM.

This past week I've had COVID after getting it at the Spy Museum. Very cool museum, didn't like the disease, though. I'm vaccinated and boosted so it's been just a light cough and drainage but still, even this introvert is getting stir-crazy. Reminds me of life in 2020.

I've been doing some website work for SFPA (Science Fiction Poetry Association) and seeing the org's history has been a wonder to behold. Such industry giants have been part of SFPA since 1978, including Isaac Asimov, Ursula Le Guin, Ray Bradbury, Margaret Atwood, and more.

I spent eleven years in higher education getting my three degrees and teaching. I'm glad I'm no longer on a college campus each day. Every week more college activists are being kidnapped for speaking out. I was so politically active I'd already be expelled if I did the same in 2025
