Had our longest council meeting of the new year 7+ hours. executive Session getting summaries from staff and Voting on human services funding and comp plan amendments related to housing density. smoothest 7+ hours council meeting of the last 4 years. Nice job @cm-sarah-moore.bsky.social

At the Jan 12th meeting, my fellow Councilmembers selected me to serve as Mayor for the next 2 years. We are a council-manager city, so being Mayor does not give me sweeping, different powers, but will add an additional set of duties. CM @hugo4burien.bsky.social was selected as Deputy Mayor.

Looking forward to working with this new council; we have a lot of work ahead of us.

I’m going to shout out Burien City Council member @hugo4burien.bsky.social for his continued work and advocacy on how to keep our community safe and whole. We are lucky to have great leadership, even when parts of the city administration refuse to take appropriate action.
