spoke with the executive director of my local food bank today and got this really incredible line: "if you donate 1 can of green beans, we can give away 1 can of green beans. but if you donate a dollar, we can give away 6 cans of green beans"

Maybe it’s just the hype and cast that built up expectations, but I thought the film “Weapons” sucked.

Remembering MN house speaker Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark and their beloved dog Gilbert. Murdered in June at their home by a rightwing Trump-voting evangelist, who also shot another MN lawmaker and his wife at THEIR home, 9 and 8 times, respectively (miraculously, they survived).

Especially if you're on the fence about it, protest today. Fascism is isolating and lonely. Its very goal is to make you feel like you're the only person unwilling to accept a cult of personality. On days like today you fully realize there are more of us than there are them. You will feel better.

The fact that we can’t just use a docker compose file and ship stuff into ECS … it’s so dumb. I feel like buildpacks on heroku also solved a bunch of these issues (moving from mock/dev to a prod env) a long time ago and nobody today is really doing a good job of this.

Kind of excited about the near-future state of trust and safety development. There’s so much activity in this space, which warms my heart. Making the internet more usable seems like a good thing. Seeing stuff like

Watched the first three episodes of the CNN Twitter thing. I was only there briefly during a really intense time but even seeing folks on video from that time brought back a lot of feels. Really felt more about the time and place more than the circumstance. We had so many opportunities.

I care less about Signal chats and more about the blacksite offshore concentration camps we're sending random people to without any semblance of a trial, so I'll be interested to see if the national media can rub their bellies and pat their heads at the same time this week. Historically they can't.
