$25 for every volume of The Complete Peanuts, which spans the full fifty years of the comic strip, is honestly one of the greatest deals ever. I'm floored.

A big takeaway this year has to be that Sinners and One Battle After Another were big, artist driven, swings bankrolled by WB whose future is ultimately unclear. I like living in a world where people like PTA and Ryan Coogler get to make the films they want to make with those resources.

And the rest. Best of 2025. Great year and am going to miss talking about all of these. Once you’ve seen every Oscar nominee, double back and check all of these off—they’re so worth it In no particular order, except for After the Hunt

2025 film year ends tomorrow night, so time to cement my favorites I haven’t stopped thinking about After the Hunt, largely bc of Julia Roberts’ performance, but it’s only become more fascinating and there’s way too much to say in a post No. 1 faves of the decade so far:

Joke’s on all of the Diane Warren haters: she’s infinitely more interesting than you’ll ever be 🙏 Her doc has its faults, but the amount of conviction in her voice when she says you absolutely have to believe in yourself first in order to succeed brought me to tears

I was thinking the other day about the fact that her Oscar for MY COUSIN VINNY has aged probably as well as any Oscar in my lifetime when it comes to a performance that is basically perfect but also incredibly *beloved* and enjoyable to watch over and over. And it's bizarre people questioned it.
