This is a VERY well crafted lawsuit. 1) Plaintiff is natural born. 2) He was detained 2X in a fast-growing part of Alabama, not in a city that Brett Kavanaugh could be easily duped into believing was all migrants. 3) Unwarranted detentions were on private property. 4) He showed Real ID both times.

Particularly IN THIS CASE, don't get into the war of claiming two competing sets of truth. They're claiming that the Americans who rely on Medicaid and--especially--ACA are "illegal [sic] immigrants." Don't get into the fight over truth, accuse them of attacking their fellow Americans.

So DOJ went to a federal grand jury and failed. Rather than giving up, they went to a local DC grand jury (possible due to DC’s status) on the same charge, and that grand jury indicted. This is so so awful. He left four children (all Americans, not that it should matter) and a grieving wife (also an American, not that it should matter)

Finally, Judge Young lays out why this matters to him. He quotes a famous Reagan speech and ends with a plea to the American people to "stand up, fight for, and defend our most precious constitutional values" and not be "lulled" into acquiescence to Trump's crackdown on speech.
