I've been messing with the @redisinc.bsky.social plane tracker @grafana.bsky.social dashboard again, now tracking highest/fastest & hoping to see a niche aircraft such as A330 Beluga XL. B737 is currently "rarest seen" as that refers to specifically the 737-700 not other more common variants.

I did a little more work on my Redis / @grafana.bsky.social / flightware plane tracker tonight. With recent learning I was able to convert all the panels to stream data and add a couple more - number of messages received by the radio and number of Boeing 757 seen. #aviation cc @antirez.bsky.social

I made a meme based counting demo with @grafana.bsky.social canvas and other panels, the streaming @redisinc.bsky.social data source and Upstash cloud Redis as the buttons use the REST API to update a counter. Fun learning!

This composition had eluded me for nearly a decade, but yesterday I was finally able to capture it. A train rolled through just as the Duquesne Incline was crossing over the tracks in #Pittsburgh, creating a picture perfect winter scene. It was worth the hours and hours I've waited over the years.

It’s that time of year when you might be thinking of storing summer cars. My MX-5 used to get used for more of the year than you might think in Washington DC & could carry its own winter wheel set (4th in the boot). Until snow got really heavy I commuted in it with no hard top.

Off to visit Gangnam by metro train shortly.

I’ve been collecting Seoul Metro reusable tickets as they have fun designs that will make nice souvenirs. You do get a small cash deposit refund for returning them to a ticket machine if you don’t want them.

Went #geocaching around Seoul by the river. Wanted to do more of these but it got quite cold and hands were freezing. Currently sat with hot coffee.

I love my iPhone but boy the iPad is a pile of crap. No idea how people get stuff done with one. I am using an iPad Pro as my only “computer” this week & it’s shit for basics (edit markdown file in Dropbox, update markdown file in GitHub). A used MacBook Air is so much better.

Not the upstairs on the 747-8i that I originally booked (equipment swapped a few days before my flight) but Korean’s 77W prestige is decent. Food excellent, seat and entertainment systems a bit tired, smooth flight. Arrival at ICN and transfer to rail transport to the city easy!
