🧵And we're off, ladies and gentlemen! It's "they're banning the word EASTER" week. Regular as clockwork... So here comes a history lesson and media lesson all rolled into one thread! PS, I can't believe there's no easter egg emoji? This was the best I could do - 🗿🥚 🤣 I digress! 1/19

A demonstration of how well the council is dealing with potholes... I reported a number of these in January, last weekend some of them were filled by a randomer! Naturally the council came round on Monday and marked *some* of the rest, then filled them Tuesday Wonder who's repairs will fail 1st?

Alt-text: "High Gas [petrol] Prices" Google's the conversion rate of the vpower (i.e. the most expensive) - £1.27 a litre 🤯 years since it was that cheap here! Our local petrol stations most expensive this week (i.e. diesel) is approx US$9.16/US Gallon!

I now reminded of the Fuel Crisis 2000 just before I started Uni. As my mum hadn't been able to fill up the car for a couple of weeks my dad bought a Nat Ex ticket for me as a plan B, only for them to warn the same day that they were looking at rationing their routes!

An amazing member of ours put together this graphic that really encapsulates perfectly the situation on Bank Street. There is only so much space available, and we must use it as efficiently as possible. Parking isn't that. Please sign up to delegate on March 30th in favour of bus lanes!

Ah those Ever Ready lights that were so shit that the only way you could tell they'd fallen off - again - was the thud as they hit the ground - it certainly wasn't the loss of light (at least in reasonably well lit suburbia).

Why are there 20 Common Models on sale which have been made too big for the common parking bays (and therefore reduce parking spaces available to other motorists - on our street turns bays that used to hold 4 into 3)? Also well done to those five councils, need more to follow their examples.

It's 2026, you shouldn't have to wait months to find out when an appointment is, even a vague November-December 2027 time frame that gets narrowed down as the dates near would be better than the current hearing nothing for months and wondering if it's fell between the cracks again...
