Very grateful that so far our power has remained on. There are ways to remain warm without external power but in a warm climate, nobody is set up to do that. And in a culture that relies on large industrial-scale systems, when stuff breaks down, we are fucked.

Right now: the federal government has to help these folks and get the power back on, and if they can’t, they should resign After that: we need a Grid New Deal and rebuild the grid for this century
