The bonds we build in times of crisis don't magically become movements. Shared experiences are not infrastructure. Infrastructure takes deliberate work to build & maintain. Infrastructure requires community, community requires conflict resolution skills. Far too few people have the patience needed

Counter narratives are an evidence based radicalization intervention strategy that we don't deploy well. When you expose organizers as vapid or confused, their followers have a hard time keeping the faith. This works better at a local level with your neighbourhood agents of radicalizing rhetoric.

I’ve been looking at Bayard Rustin’s notes on "protest to politics." Rustin didn't seem to view non-violence as just a reaction to cruelty, but as a proactive architecture of persistent pressure. If we only show up when they attack, are we actually building power, or just managing the damage?
