This is a well preserved combat helmet for a Roman cavalryman of the C1st AD. Iron inners for the crown of the helmet and the neck guard (now missing) would have provided additional protection to the wearer. It was found in a gravel pit in Cambridgeshire. 🏛️📷 BM #AncientBlueSky #Archaeology

Decided to add a background of gold & silver Celtic knots with copper Celtic corners (Ha! Get it?) The roses are going to get several layers of various shades of gold water colors. 11x14 mixed-media paper; wet on dry. Ever notice with flower art you can get away with anything???

In Greek mythology, Zeus appeared in the form of a swan to Queen Leda of Sparta. As a result, Leda laid two eggs. From one egg hatched Helen and Pollux (demigod children of Zeus), and from the other hatched Clytemnestra and Castor (mortal children of Leda's husband King Tyndareus). #WyrdWednesday
