New Paper Alert | Georgia Tech researchers developed a mathematical formula to predict the size of lakes that form on melting ice sheets. They discovered that lake depth and span are linked to the topography of the ice sheet. Their findings were published in @natcomms.nature.com.

International Asexuality Day (IAD) is celebrated worldwide every year on April 6th to recognize asexual people and to promote understanding of the ace umbrella. The day is dedicated to raising awareness and promoting the rights of the ace community.

Some federal workers are going back to work. The USDA has been ordered to temporarily give over 5,000 workers their jobs back. Dozens of CDC scientists have been reinstated after being illegally fired. The National Science Foundation has rehired half of the workers it fired.

AGU has joined a lawsuit challenging the firing of probationary employees at federal agencies. These actions weaken science, harm public health & the environment, and threaten national security. 🧵 #StandWithScience

Even in the face of the Trump administration’s attacks on trans people, institutions can and must protect our rights. We commend the Philly school district and urge others to follow suit.

The IRS is expected to fire upwards of 6,000 employees as early as today. This will mean fewer audits for rich tax dodgers. According to U.S. Treasury estimates, the top 1% underpay their taxes by $163 billion every year.
