SARSCoV2 is now in Hazard Group within UK lab rules. A regulatory change for labs, the biology hasn’t changed. That’s paperwork, not a sign that the virus is harmless. Constant struggle in microbiology labs. People wear them for compliance only, with no thought for why, or worse (like poor mask use during Covid) as a sort of mystical protective totem.

I am pretty convinced that if someone is inadequately trained in glove use it makes the situation SO MUCH WORSE! You get something on your hand, you wash it You get something on your glove? Some people seem to just ignore it… They touch things and even (shudders) their masks and faces with gloves

This drives me NUTS! I worked as a forensic scientist and SO OFTEN I see people wearing gloves I feel slightly ill because they just…touch stuff with them on, and don’t change them! I used to get through a LOT of gloves (low copy number DNA) During the pandemic glove mis-use went mainstream

Children and babies are dying as a result of living in temporary accommodation. Our clinics see families placed for years in squalid, unstable housing, unable to meet their kid’s basic health needs. 104 deaths is a travesty. Safe, stable housing must be a priority.
