Children and babies are dying as a result of living in temporary accommodation. Our clinics see families placed for years in squalid, unstable housing, unable to meet their kid’s basic health needs. 104 deaths is a travesty. Safe, stable housing must be a priority.

With Govt's changes to settlement, many more people will be trapped in temporary status for decades, lives dictated by the next Home Office decision. If NHS continues to act as a data-sharing arm for the Home Office, its going to be difficult to convince pple to trust the NHS when next crisis hits.

Also much needed acknowledgment of the experiences of our patients who wanted to get vaccinated but were unable to. Disappointingly, this was not followed through in the recommendations; the Inquiry did not call for the charging policy or data-sharing practices to cease.

Over the last 4 yrs, @dotwuk.bsky.social has participated in the UK COVID-19 Inquiry. Yesterday the Inquiry published its report on vaccines and therapeutics. It is a huge win to see the Inquiry officially recognise that NHS migrant charging and Home Office data-sharing undermined vaccine uptake.

Death and disease in Home Office asylum camps ⚠️ Overcrowding, filthy conditions, and lack of healthcare access led to diphtheria, scabies, and two lives tragically being lost. This is disgraceful. Those responsible must be held accountable. One the many reasons we are calling to #CloseTheCamps.
