It has been a political reality since we started having elections that cranks will forward insane, facially unenforcable, illegal, or otherwise ridiculous bills when they have the legal power to do so, and these bills will go die in committee. They are called messaging bills.

I think it is, at bare minimum, a severe failure of journalistic integrity to cover this bill without mentioning that Michigan's Senate is firmly controlled by Democrats; their governor is a Democrat; their Judiciary is highly liberal; and the fact this bill has one co-sponsor.
