The upcoming proposed rules surrounding NSFW art are bad and the Bsky mod team should feel bad. Fellow artists: Remember that even if you don't make NSFW art, rules like these eventually come back to bite us all, especially if we make works about queerness.

also: don't delete your art or accounts in advance, make it hard for them.

Since it clearly needs to keep being said: censorship does not keep "icky" content from being posted, it just means the poster labeling it appropriately now has a negative consequence and more people will have to see things they could otherwise avoid with filters. It protects no one.

expanding on this (sorry loam LOL) but imo making your characters be straight up wrong about something important will make you a better writer because you have to figure out WHY they feel that way and what makes them tick. you have to get inside their brain and roll around. it's so important.

Deeply recommend getting absolutely brainrotted about a pairing/oc/concept that no one else is making food for so you have to cook for yourself. Not only is making what you want to see deeply rewarding, you will improve and it will not even be on purpose it will just be the inevitable byproduct.

Once again I will always recommend getting totally obsessed with something you want to see more of as motivation for getting good at creative stuff.

If I had tried learning how to draw 'the proper way' I probably would have given up as well. You don't need to get good before you get to draw the stuff you love, you get good because you love the stuff you draw and you don't stop.
