I sleep badly on my back. Made the mistake of trying to sleep on my side. Despite the support of the binder and a pillow under my incision, it took all of three minutes before a ripping agony made me roll back over in fear of tearing my staples. It still stings an hour later. I’m so tired.

Pretty sure the ufo from Close Encounters just landed behind our house. Heavy thump, deep bass rumble, distinct prolonged bass and baritone notes. Does that mean I have to get up and naked mashed potatoes? My incision hurts way too much for that amount of standing.

Post surgery tip! It turns out a buckwheat pillow is a great way to protect an incision so you can cuddle a puppy.

The gov’t just declared Wednesday and Friday as federal holidays, meaning I have to go through the whole process by Tuesday, probably at midday, because military stuff always shuts down early the day before a holiday. Yikes.

Delighted to report the Healthy Plantet eucalyptus and tea tree lip balm is both delightful and effective. I should’ve brought it with me to the hospital, but I was frazzled when I packed. (They have other types. I just really like tea tree.)

I would very much like to put my recliner back, but Aleya fell asleep so sweetly right up against the foot. Shh.

I keep finding new spots of sticky tape residue. Also my abdominal incision isn’t straight. It takes a sharp turn around my belly button and kind of meanders around a bit. I’m gonna have one gnarly scar. I almost regret that I never wear bikinis or half shirts. This is wild!

Remember all the drama and fuss about getting access to MIL’s medical records? I get an email notification for every clinical note and lab test. Every. Single. One.

I feel like so many of you would appreciate this.

So I got five days worth of pain meds. That puts my last dose on Thurs night. We use a military pharmacy. With how holidays work, they’re probably understaffed all of next week. Probably close early Tues and all day W-Th.

My discharge instructions list “reduced libido” under the “ongoing problems” section. Someone’s getting a firm education in why asexuality is NOT a problem of any kind, ongoing or not, when I call for med refills.

I have so many many staples in my abdomen. The doc said it’s totally normal for some of them to just come out as part of the healing process, and I shouldn’t try to put them back or put new ones in, and I boggled that she had to say that, but… well. People.
