Our research at @aaslh.org suggests that among the 21k+ public history organizations (history museums, historical societies, historic sites) in the US: - 2/3 are private nonprofits, 1/3 govt - Among nonprofits, 80% have less than $200k in annual revenue (and thus no paid, full-time staff)
