In my quest to use up fabric and make room for more (because of course!!) I’m taking a detour from the princess coat since I don’t have pink thread yet.

Getting to work on a hot pink and black #wool peplum jacket using the #CharmPatterns #princesscoat. Buying this pink wool from #fabscrap was a gamble because it was all that was left on the bolt and less than two yards.

Working on this lovely #peacoat made out of #italian double face #meltonwool. All of the machine stitching is done. The rest will be mundane hand stitching and then buttonholes. I am waiting for a vintage #Griest no.1 buttonholer for my #Kenmore 52. This is #vogue pattern #V8940

Styled my wig. It’s not great but it’s good enough. The wig base is wonky. For some reason there was a wave on one side that I couldn’t get out and so from the back this wig looks a little messed up.#Otakon is this week so no time for a replacement.

A fast update for ya’ll, switching to Neo Queen Serenity means a different prop! So in good #cosplay crunch fashion, I am printing and body shopping the staff. This staff is traditionally white but personally I prefer color!

The transformation from plain to Serenity begins. Bought this interesting metallic trim a few years ago from a notions store that went out of business. I unlinked the chains and relinked the smaller sections to create rings that I can sew onto the dress.

Making some adjustments on my zipper for #PrincessSerenity. This is the same pattern I used for #YorForger so I didn’t need to make a mock. I basted the zipper in and tried it on just to be certain since I used a different fabric and added more layers.

I’ve completed the front of my #Butterick #walkaway #dress. I find the front construction with the 6 darts to be fascinating. It was a little challenging but I did serge the side darts which the pattern expects you to cut open, unlike regular darts.

Making another #Butterick #walkaway dress out of this lovely superfine floral #cotton I bought in #London. I added 5/8 of an inch to the neckline since I fold it in rather than show the bias tape like the pattern calls for. I prefer the bias tape for the skirt and edges of the bodice only.

Let’s talk about how odd the construction is on this 1930s Vogue pattern. The bodice has no side seams and is all top stitched together to aid with the geometric shapes. I love it. #vogue #voguepatterns #1930s #sewing #gown #sewist #silk #charmeuse #fiberarts #crafts

I used two red silks for this dress. An Italian #silk from #Italy for the shell and a silk of some sort from #fabscrap for the lining. I think it’s a #habotai but I can’t be sure. I didn’t want to use inside facings so I made a lining by cutting two of everything.

Work on the draft for #Vogue #patterns 1930s gown. This is a unique pattern in that there’s no side seams which makes this complicated to alter. If I made this again I would try to go up a size to have more room across the chest. Since I fit into the top as is I didn’t change that.
