I don't think people understand that if you shut down the government, ICE and CBP do NOT shut down. They're funded by supplemental money from the BBB. That's why dems are separating the DHS funding bill and asking for restrictions. I want them to demand a rescission of that funding or shut DHS down

FYI: Dems in the senate can't defund ICE. ICE is funded by the Big Ugly Bill. Shutting down DHS on this vote wouldn't touch ICE, but it would shut down FEMA, TSA, Coast Guard, etc. Shutting down ICE requires taking back Congress in the midterms. Dismantling DHS requires the White House in 2028.

A friend in Minneapolis just sent me this video. Looks like thousands have come together for a vigil after an ICE agent shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good. This was my neighborhood for several years before coming to Portland.

The ICE agent responsible is still not behind bars for murder. One person is dead in Minneapolis. How many more?

So, remember it started out with just undocumented immigrants with a criminal history. But here we are nearly 12 months later with all undocumented immigrants, fishing boat owners, world leaders, and now US citizens. Friends, we have arrived at a new place, and not sure how much more can be allowed.

There is currently an enormous protest in the streets of Minneapolis in response to the murder there today by the American Gestapo, ICE. I take some comfort in this.
