This, 100% Are you empathizing with a simulacrum generated by the process (a fictional person obeying rules of how people behave in writing) or practicing mechanical sympathy and a sort of understanding of the pattern behind the tokens being generated and their behavior in phase space

I saw a recent take that Claude’s injection of tokens like “honestly” are reminders to itself to not hallucinate, possibly reinforced by post training is it known if other prose tics, eg overuse of metaphor is token efficient? or otherwise a precursor/indicator of an internal “language of thought”?

Semi-related: I had it cook this up a few days ago, but I don't think it's accurate. It seems biased against me and thinks I'm one of the more central nodes in the network, and it misses some more popular accounts. But it did this entirely autonomously!

whats the best case for local models over cloud ones? seems like they are worse in nearly every dimension? except: - privacy / security if you are nervous abt big companies - felt sense of ownership / aesthetic getting your hands dirty, akin to making your own cabinets - mayyybe latency?

Oh yeah, kit is now available for hire. Start date preferably in spring 2027 (due to apartment lease and job clawback) If located in the PNW (b/w 120long and the coast, and 40lat and the Canadian border), even better
