Iâve talked to so many people who are flummoxed by that song. For my book I asked a friend/drummer to try to break it down for me, which is how I arrived at this description.

I absolutely loved this 2 hour podcast on the making of Slint's 1991 album Spiderland, based on interviews with all four of the members. Maybe one of my all-time favourite albums and am still blown away that it was made by a bunch of teenager.

Great episode, did not realize that Britt and Pajo play all the guitar on "Don, Aman" or that it was basically sprung on the rest of the band in the studio. Still a beautiful sounding record, the closest any 90s rock record came to sounding like A Kind of Blue or something

This is even better than you'd hope it's going to be, everyone comes across so well and so honestly and with voices their perfect countrified voices that you find yourself falling in love with one of the best records ever made - it makes you think that the American Experiment is going to work out

I love the Soft Boys. Underwater Moonlight is one of the best albums of 1980. Early jangle pop that still sounds great 46 years later. The darkly surreal lyrics are a perfect blend of Dylan, Lennon and Barrett. Fascinating to hear how it all came together.
