The people I love playing with most will naturally find the silly and the serious in all we do-- even in horror. We don't play or run games with the expectation of maintaining a specific tone. But there are definitely contexts I would want to avoid seriousness; with strangers, for one.

The other day my brain invented a hybrid tcg convention larp. I don't remember how it works, but everyone brought their mixed, system-agnostic decks and one of the key mechanics involved ripping or blendering up your cheap surplus cards for "mulch".

What separates formal from informal communities?

When you put together a cast of characters for a short #ttrpg game, do you have any default roles you fill in most games? I.e., the quest giver, the captain, the urchin, the fence, etc...
