Run to Windscar from home via Langsett and South Nab trig. First Cuckoo of the year at Langsett. Golden Plover, Lapwing, Curlew. Possible Short-eared Owl but was a long way off.

Had a spare hour so did a walk along Ewden Heights. Buzzard, Kestrel (male just visible in one of these), Meadow Pipit, Chaffinch, Lapwing and more Red Grouse on this part of the moor than last year.

An enjoyable year on the patch with 139 of 145 sp seen. Highlights were the Spoonbill in May and ring-tailed Hen Harrier on 30th Oct. The annual March movement of Whoopers was again spectacular and a day hunting Long-eared Owl serene. As they say in football , "we go again Wednesday."
