Popped into North Cave yesterday afternoon on the way back from seeing a brief view of the Ortolan Bunting. No sign of the Little Owlets but good views of one of the adults.

The glorious weather has allowed us to carry out our first colony walkthrough of the season. An astonishing 91 Little Tern nests were counted, which is the highest count for the protection scheme (previous highest count of 70 in 1996). We're keeping everything crossed for a record-breaking season!

Love watching the Little Terns at Beacon Ponds especially when they bring fishy presents. Good to compare their size against a Common Tern. Two Sandwich Terns also seen @davidjcopeland.bsky.social @spurnterns.bsky.social
