Today’s primary
#BirdOfTheDay
theme, given to us by
@alan678.bsky.social
, is
#CaughtInMotion
. Here’s one of my favorites, the impossible-looking Black Skimmer. I’ve thrown in a Forster’s Tern with intact wingtips.

Our
#BirdOfTheDay
theme from
@alan678.bsky.social
is
#mostrecent
(your most recent bird photo). Here’s one of the threatened Florida Scrub Jay, which I was so thrilled to spot that I didn’t care about the iffy lighting.

@alan678.bsky.social
has given us a
#BirdOfTheDay
theme of
#contrast
. Since most of our denizens work hard to blend in, I have to turn to a summer visitor, the Scarlet Tanager, to help me out here.

Today’s
#BirdOfTheDay
theme is
#nestbuilders
. This is a female Blue-gray Gnatcatcher putting the finishing touches on its nest. I watched the pair for days until a powerful storm came through and demolished all their hard work.

Why are we so politically divided? Is it because incredibly rich powerful corrupt entities operate easier when our attention isn't on their activities, so they spend vast resources to contrive outrage and direct our focus onto pointless culture wars? Or is it because trans immigrants are too woke?

I'm old enough to remember a time when "Jewel Heist at The Louvre" might be a front page news item. But, hey... "President Post Video of Himself Wearing A Crown While Flying Jet That Dumps Diarrhea on American Citizens" is hard to jump ahead of.

"My threatening threats were not meant as a threat. In general, the words I say do not mean what you think they mean. If I say 'giraffe', for example, it means 'soup'. It's just a fun thing about me and hardly worth further investigation."
