I have to try and forcibly remind myself that it's two things at once - that we hate Trump and his cronies not just because it's fun to dunk on the mad king for clicks, but because we love the people he is hurting and our anger is on behalf of the vulnerable, which makes it sacred and honorable

The Constitution gives Congress, not the president, the power to decide when the nation goes to war. President Trump’s strikes on Iran are flatly unconstitutional. There’s been no deliberation, no vote, no clear justification. This is a flagrant abuse of executive power.

Iran did not pose an immediate threat to the United States. Trump has admitted this is a regime change war. He did this without congressional authorization. This is an unconstitutional action. Worse, he clearly has no plan for what comes next. It’s a Mad King war.

Q8: I would stop using questions to evaluate students and start using them to understand them. Too often our questions are subtle checkpoints. We ask to see who got it. Who is fast. Who is right. Even when we do not mean to, that communicates that math is about performance.

We shouldn’t make it seem like bad practice, for example, to let kids read quietly in your classroom for 30m and take some notes. Classrooms could be where we teach kids to inhabit the silences reading requires—instead we turn them into another form of pressure and noise.
