A.I. solving Erdős problems is depressing to me. Math problems seemed such a grand, human endeavor. Shaking the hand of someone who solved a decades-long issue, that seemed great. I don’t really want to shake the hand of the 20-sth. old that entered a prompt and published the result 😑.

"MARIO GALAXY" and "MICHAEL" are the two $1 Billion movies this year, "TOY STORY 5" will be within a few months, likely ditto "SPIDER-MAN." There are interesting/notable stories to investigated about the business now, but "IP is over!" (see also: "End of superheroes!") is just wishcasting.

When it comes to book sizes, I love standard Penguin trade as well as mass market paperback sizes. Hate anything Din A4-ish or larger, I get it’s done for bigger pictures but I can’t hold these monstrosities. I got multiple LotR editions, but my favorite by far is a ‘pocket book’ one. #BookSky

Watched a video describing modern pop culture movies as ‘too self aware, not sincere enough’ and I’d agree, though in degrees. A film like 80s Conan had levity (like its source material), but didn’t shy away from or apologized for being a Conan film, didn’t deconstruct its genre conventions.

Heard a lot of bad about John Byrne. But I will say, his Elsewhen stuff is impressive from a craft perspective. Don’t know if I feel the need to get it. I might, but I suspect I really just like Claremont and Byrne is more incidental.
