I’m in Snowdonia where @autumn-d.bsky.social and I are visiting locations in Susan Coopers’ classic, The Grey King - part II of The Dark is Rising sequence. Craig yr Aderyn, Assembly Rooms, Carreg Cadfan, Tal y Llyn, Llyn Mwyngil, the lake in the pleasant place under the shadow of the Grey King.

Whilst I sit at my desk every day working on my laptop, out there in the real world, these two ravens just sit for ages in that tree chilling and catching the breeze. Thinking I should have some names for them now - any suggestions?

I found this old photo which I had unhelpfully labelled 'Standing stone near Llangollen'. My guess is that I was trundling down one of the minor roads from the north of the town and spotted it in a field. Perhaps it's an old way marker rather than prehistoric. Can anyone ID it? #StandingStoneSunday

Last week I visited Duddo Five Stones, aka the Singing Stones, for the first time - wow! Beautiful weathered megaliths crowning the hill, with Northumberland spreading far and wide, and the Cheviots on the horizon. The stones even whistled for us! Very nice indeed #StandingStoneSunday

Daily #Wales with a spot more archaeology. Honest - it’s an Iron Age hut circle. Walls, heaped and overgrown, are still about a metre higher than the centre, and the entrance is clear.
