Shorey Well (Burnley): The well measures 1.1m high and 1.8m long. It has a cupboard-like cavity of stonework and is reputed to have been the sole water supply when Burnley was a village clustering about the parish church, when it was known as St. Peter's hamlet.

Huegelgraeber Klingbachwald: This barrow cemetery including 150 burial mounds is located in a forest close to Herxheim. The burials are dated to the Iron Age. Some of the barrows are 10m diameter and 2m high. 📷 Themazewasntmeantforyou More: http://www.megalithi...

Pozzo Sacro San Salvatore: This ancient well in in Sardinia opens onto a rectangular paved space, from which a stair leads to the underground chamber covered by a tholos (domed structure) which protects the source. During the Punic period an aniconic betyl was put in the centre of the atrium.

Crystal River Archaeological State Park: Burial Mound and Ceremonial Complex in Citrus County, Florida. Although the area was originally occupied 2500 years ago, the ceremonial center dates to the Middle Woodland period (~400CE).

Hillson's House: Not long after sunrise on the day before the winter Solstice. On the summit of Stalldown barrow (Dartmoor) is a large flat-topped cairn around 17.5m across. The cairn has been damaged by the construction of shelters within it - hence it is known as Hillson's House. 📷 Bladup More:

Stalldon Row: This magnificent stone row (possibly the best in the land) stretches for over 500 metres in a north to south direction, mostly up the southern slopes of Stalldon Barrow hill, but with its northerly end just over the top of hill, and starting to wander back down the northern hillside.

The Kingship Stone, Cherry Hinton: In the car park of the Robin Hood and Little John pub, lies a mysterious lonely stone. The dark sarsen is about three feet across and has what looks like a human-sized ‘footprint’ deeply embedded into it. (about size 10!

Heathwaite Settlement: The whole area round about is riddled with field systems and interesting medieval farms and halls. If you want a short walk you can approach the settlement and enclosures on the Knitleton footpath which gives access to Burney Tarn and passes the enclosure and stone rings.

Bowl Barrow South of the Sanctuary: Historic England say: The monument includes a large bowl barrow situated 50m south of The Sanctuary on Overton Hill. The barrow is at the southern end of the Seven Barrow Hill Bronze Age round barrow cemetery.

Lake Jackson Mounds Archaeological State Park: One of the most important archaeological sites in Florida, the capital of chiefdom and ceremonial center of the Fort Walton Culture inhabited from 1050–1500 CE.

Box Hall Defended Settlement: Above Box Hall between Castleton and Commondale a broad spur extrudes from the lower south west slope of Three Howes Rigg. On the top of this natural terrace which is slightly sloping there are the remains of a prehistoric enclosure.

Polkerth Tumuli: Two round barrows, the first is a prominent round barrow approx 2.4m high and 24m in diameter (pictured). The second is 16m in diameter and 1.2m high with a central depression of 5.0m diameter and 0.7m deep.

Laiji Tsou ceremonial site: This wooden phallic symbol stands in a valley at Laiji, a Tsou tribe village. The wooden erection points to Mt. Ta, a holy mountain on which the goddess named Tancahae lives.

Stanton Moor 3: This photo was taken in the 1980s following a moorland fire. Stanton Moor 3 is now very overgrown, we have current photos on our pages. . Located on slightly higher ground, this has been interpreted as a ring cairn, an enclosure or an embanked stone circle. More 1/

St Bronagh's Graveyard (Kilbroney): St Bronagh's graveyard is just N of Rostrevor, Co. Down and stands on the site of a monastery or convent founded in the 5th century CE by St Brona, one of a small number of female followers of St Patrick that we know about.

I went to see this dolmen yesterday. It was relocated due to its home being flooded for a dam - now quite oddly sited in a picnic area with other salvaged things - nonetheless it's still a magnificent and awe-inspiring structure. @megalithic.bsky.social #DolmendeSòlsdeRiu #CatalanPyrenees

Jõelähtme: Near the village of Jõelähtme, a few miles to the East of Tallinn, Estonia, is a group of excavated late Bronze Age burial mounds. While building a new road, this graveyard was found and excavated, and is now open to the public with its own little museum.

Marienborn Steinkiste: The Marienborn Stone Cist is situated inside a burial mound that was excavated in 1928 and again in 2014/15. Its dimensions are 2.20x1.20m. The oldest parts date back to 3500 and 3000 BCE and are related to the Funnel-Beaker-culture.
