The whole internal Labour drama has so far not been hugely relevant for EU-UK relations. But for Andy Burnham to explicitly call for rejoin 'in his lifetime' is a real policy difference to Starmer and in my recollection the first major Labour figure to say so in a long while.

Apart from the unnecessary hardship this will inflict on individuals, this will be bad for integration and social cohesion, bad for the economy, and will increase irregular migration. [And, as @robfordmancs.bsky.social has shown, it's hugely unpopular and out of step with the British public]
