The southernmost glacier in Norway is about to extinct soon! 😰 Breifonn was not exactly a small glacier at the end of the LIA (6 km²). But only scattered patches totalising 0.15 km² remain today, meaning disappearance in the next few years... 😱 www.researchgate.net/publication/...

In light of high temperatures and recent collapses in the Alps, we're resharing our 2022 piece from geomorphologist Ludovic Ravanel on mountain stability in the Mont Blanc Massif. Despite being 3 years old, it contains evergreen advice on warning signs of collapse and areas to avoid in the heat.
