In light of high temperatures and recent collapses in the Alps, we're resharing our 2022 piece from geomorphologist Ludovic Ravanel on mountain stability in the Mont Blanc Massif. Despite being 3 years old, it contains evergreen advice on warning signs of collapse and areas to avoid in the heat.

Simms et al present an investigation of a MIS 3 (~50 ka) raised shoreline deposit in northwestern Scotland. Since it is located above present day sea level, if the age is correct, it implies a significant MIS 4 glaciation of Scotland. ⚒️🧪🦣 doi.org/10.1002/jqs....
