Hello, yes I'm still here! I'm doing another bit of collaborative research on one of my Buckby Wharf people. He ended up in Southampton & is buried there. A massive project is underway to research all the people buried here, there are several Southampton #OnePlaceStudies that might be interested?

This sort of comes into my #OnePlaceStudy as they were remanded at Linslade Court House for trial at Aylesbury. Then in Bucks, the robbery was on the Linslade border, so extra police were stationed there throughout the search. I will be writing about the Court House and Police Station very soon!

Born James Samuel Slator (1885), his father was the principal of Strandtown National School and James grew up round the corner from Kin Edar. Trained in Belfast, Dublin and London, Sleator became a portraitist in London, closely assoc with William Orpen. He died in Dublin in 1950. #OnePlaceStudies

Something of a #Sudbourne #OnePlaceWednesday milestone today - completed transcribing 2 decades of death certificates! Discovered a female deputy registrar with the same surname as the usual (male) registrar, which definitely warrants more investigation. Hope to do some analysis next.

Hurst (near Reeth in Swaledale) One-Place Study🔗 has recently been registered with us by Adam Kerfoot-Roberts. This OPS stems from, and is integral to, Adam’s genealogical study of the people living at Hurst – a place once dominated by lead mining – up to the mid-20th century. #OnePlaceWednesday

Ernest Charles Pilgrim 1885-1918. Innocent hard working family man. Brother Charles however... used his brother's name as 1 of his 5 aliases, in jail most of his life, starting with Industrial School. Only able to work this out because he stole from his sister! Can't find death yet🤔 #OnePlaceStudies

Found a boatman born 1885, died 1918. 1st thought instantly is WW1 death. But oh no, turns out he was far too busy being in prison to go to war. Multiple entries in the Habitual Prisoners Register, so many different crimes. And it looks like he used aliases too. Time to go digging! #OnePlaceStudies
