Last night, I did some #Genealogy work on a family associated with my big brick wall. I managed to make a 4 gen tree, stretching daughter to mother back to the late 1700s. Not sure why the men don't want me to find them? Weird. Pretty sure I can take the eldest gen back another couple decades too.

Anyone seen this before on an England & Wales birth certificate entry? Would the 29 refer to the parents returning 11 days later on the 29th to add his name or maybe less likely Henry getting his name added in 1929 at 66 years old? Nothing else out of the ordinary on the record. #Genealogy

Broke a small brick wall last night. I was convinced my 6x grandfather's niece, Mary John Richard, married his friend's brother, David Jones, but couldn't prove it. Last night I found the proof in a record I got from my archive visit (their son's baptism from before they got married) Woo! #Genealogy

Very impressed with my 17th C. reading skills. Just went over my transcription of a deed & I got almost every word (minus damaged & faded parts). If anything it was easier than the scribbled mess of 1742 notes on the back! Plus I learned a new term: Livery of Seisin. #Genealogy

Heard back from the Welsh Pony & Cob Society & they're going to see if they have anything related to my 6x great grandfather's horses. They're also going to put me in contact with a family who may still own a painting of them from 1803! So exciting! (My timeline now has horse laws too) #Genealogy

In 1809, my ancestor met a group of stranded Greek sailors in Aberystwyth. He hung out with them on their ship & in a tavern & spoke to them in Classical Greek, which they found amusing. I wonder if somewhere in a Greek newspaper or something exists the story from their perspective. #Genealogy

I did it! Finally found the identity of my 6x grandma's brother's wife: Mary Davies. She died pre-census+no baptisms for the kids. Checked burials in the parish she lived in for their farm, nothing. Burials in the parish 2 of her children were buried in: 1 hit, but she's 20 years too old #Genealogy

I've been thinking about something similar in terms of transcription. I was working on a hard passage & realised that one of the words that looked like Lands (totally reasonable) was actually Lanlas, a property you'd only know after spending many hours researching that parish & family. #Genealogy

Worked on my direct ancestor research notes today & I'm still amazed that I found an 1855 Pedigree connecting my 3x great grandfather all the way to my 8x great grandfather & that it supported all my own independent research that took me like 3 years to figure out. #Genealogy

One weird thing about a record I use regularly is some confused enumerator on the 1851 Census for Llanfair Clydogau parish, for everyone born in Llanfair, scratched out Cardigan county & wrote Montgomery county, where there's a Llanfair... Caereinion... which is 80 miles away. So weird. #Genealogy

I tried to use the "X-cousin X-times removed" phrasing for the 1st time & it's weird. Calling someone born in the 1770s my 1st cousin, no matter how many times removed it is, feels weird. I don't get why it doesn't work like other family terms which are relative to the person speaking? #Genealogy

I just finished ~40hrs of work on a 36 page ancestor book for my Grampie's cousin. I researched, on her father's side, all her grandparents, great grandparents, and 2x great grandparents, plus 5/8 pairs of 3x great grandparents. Really excited to show her. #Genealogy

Working on an ancestor booklet & just calculated that, between my 6x grandma, her son, brother, and 2 nephews, they rented farms equivalent to the size of 1/10th of their entire parish in 1815. 4/6 of the farms over 100 acres owned by one of the landlords. #Genealogy

This week I'm getting another archives visit! I'm going to see a c1850s pedigree of the Bailiau family, which is attached to a 17th C. land deed. In 1850, my 5x grandma's nephew lived at Bailiau, though he inherited the farm through my #FirstNameStudy family. Very excited! #Genealogy
