I have a new theory for who my 9x and 10x great grandfathers are, based on a list of the kind of person I think they SHOULD be, based on who their descendants are. Last night I found some really amazing records in the archives. An 1856 plan of the iron gates to a church that MY blacksmith ancestor ended up making! :O And an 1820s bootmaker's account book for that same community. Hopefully my ancestors needed new boots! #Genealogy #History

My 1906 edition of the Welsh poetry book, Gwinllan y Bardd, arrived yesterday. Signed by the original owner, an agricultural labourer named Daniel Thomas of Waungron, Lampeter. Too bad he's not a relative of mine. Despite what's written in the book, it did not cost me £9.50 ha! #GenHour #Genealogy

Finally gave in & started a small #OnePlaceStudy on Ffosyffald Farm, Llanwenog. In 1769, it was owned by my 8x grampie's brother-in-law. Figured out the family owned it between 1834-1880s & broke a brick wall on a spouse branch so it now goes back to Thos. Jenkins b. 1744. #Genealogy

Whelp, that didn't last long (3 minutes): She's the granddaughter of the will writer's 1st cousin. Her full name is Hannah Mary Sybil Jeffreys Owen so it didn't show up in my tree search. I'm so eager for a good find that I get excited far too easily :( #Genealogy

I received another 3 wills today. One of them mentions a "relative," Sybil Owen, which is exciting because she's appeared in my research as a godchild of this person's 2nd cousin. If Sybil is actually related, this could break a brick wall :O #Genealogy

I often find that FAN research is one of the best ways to do this. While women are often the "wife/mother of" they're also the "daughter/sister/cousin of" and those relatives, at least in my research, tend to show up a lot more than for the men in my tree, even if not identified as such. #Genealogy

Finished (for now) my adventure into Ecuadorian #Genealogy. Managed to find a pair of my friend's great grandparents which is new for her. Wasn't much more than BMD records & seems like FamilySearch has been adding & removing records so it was a bit annoying finding something one day & not the next.

I got the greatest #Genealogy compliment the yesterday: Around Christmas, my friend showed his mum the family booklet I made for her. In the week since then, she's asked if I've found anything else yet. She's eager for more, so I guess I've done a good job of igniting her interest. :D

Neat conversation. While I listened I went through & added signatures into my pedigree tree so I can see all my direct ancestors at once. I have an unbroken line of signatures going all the way back to the 1630s (assuming all that early research is correct ha!) & just 1 signed by mark. #Genealogy

I was bad last night & started a new #Genealogy research project. One that will take like a couple years. Oops. But good thing is it has a specific goal & it's a limited project, so it can't expand infinitely like some other projects haha. Maybe it's my reward for solving a big research question?

The thing I've found about researching people who pop up with 500+ family trees on Ancestry is that they are almost all of them so poorly "researched" that they can only have been made by just grabbing from each other's trees and adding in anyone with the relevant surname. #Genealogy
